I am an eternal optimist. I started this journal to detail items about my journey into submission... but I have found that I want to write about more silly, vanilla things here. I am not highly creative, but very much enjoy (and am a bit envious)of others creative expressions in their journals. I am a student of people and life…. Lately I have been spending a lot of time on line learning about the D/s lifestyle. I often read and comment on journals. And I love MeMe's and Quizes.... I am trying to post less on my journal and more on the MeMe group, however addiction is hard to break.
I am a 39 year old woman who had some life changing events in 2008 which made me ask the question... is this the life I wanted? There are some aspects of my life that are wonderful (most of the time). I am Mom to two wonderful girls and a Sister to three wonderful siblings. My day job is that of a Business Analyst, which I also love my job and my company.
I think I am somewhat of a geek, this test said differently ... that I am more than somewhat lol.
I love words that give me feeling, be it a laugh or sentimental feeling which translates to a love of quotes and nuggets of wisdom. This love also carries over to my taste in music... while my style is eclectic, lyrics are what draws me in. (Well ok, that and a driving beat )
As a typical person who loves words but is not good with them, I love quotes - here are some the I found interesting:
"We could learn a lot from crayons... Some are sharp, some are pretty, and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box."
"Faith is a myth and beliefs shift like mists on the shore; thoughts vanish; words, once pronounced, die; and the memory of yesterday is as shadowy as the hope of to-morrow.... In this world — as I have known it — we are made to suffer without the shadow of a reason, of a cause or of guilt.... There is no morality, no knowledge and no hope; there is only the consciousness of ourselves which drives us about a world that... is always but a vain and floating appearance.... A moment, a twinkling of an eye and nothing remains — but a clot of mud, of cold mud, of dead mud cast into black space, rolling around an extinguished sun. Nothing. Neither thought, nor sound, nor soul. Nothing." -Joseph Conrad
"We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are. " -Anais Nin
"Face it. Curiosity will not cause us to die-- only lack of it will. Never to want to see the other side of the hill or that improbable country where living is an idyll (although a probable hell) would kill us all. Only the curious have,if they live, a tale worth telling at all." -"Curiosity" by Alastair Reid
"The secret to happiness is not in doing what one likes to do, but in liking what one has to do." - Anonymous
"A smile is a light in the window of the soul indicating that the heart is at home." - Anonymous
"Joy can be real only if people look on their life as a service, and have a definite object in life outside themselves and their personal happiness." - Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoy
What if the 'Hokey Pokey' really is what it's all about - Bumper sticker
~posted by a friend on her journal... it is so true~ "When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us." - Helen Keller
*My journal is friends only... but I'm happy to friend you if you are interested and send me an introduction.*
